About Us

SOS Health Foundation is working to improve the physical health of disadvantaged individuals and communities within Australia through the provision of physiotherapy and related allied health services where these services are limited or inaccessible due to remoteness or disadvantage. In 2015 financial year, we funded 80 Volunteers who provided 4,308 Volunteer hours of clinical services in our Health Outreach Program – to help Close the Gap in health outcomes for indigenous people in: • North East Arnhem Land, NT - Operating in remote indigenous Homeland communities in this region, providing hands on allied health services in 31 remote communities where these health services were unavailable. • Providing physiotherapy, health education and related services to the large indigenous community (approx. 3,500 people) on Palm Island in Nth Qld. We worked together with local health organisations to ensure a more holistic approach to health care is provided. Our services included • assessing injuries and aches and pains • rehabilitation and post operative care • developing treatment plans for the disabled • health promotion around chronic disease prevention, control and management • health education to promote good health through lifestyle and behaviour choices and changes. • encouraging healthier lifestyle for the community through physical activity • teaching techniques for injury prevention Main activities relate to Other health service delivery.
