About Us

The Kooweerup Football Club was formed on the 18th April, 1903. The Lang Lang “Guardian”, of April 25, 1903, described it this way " ... _meeting of KWR F.C. was held on Saturday, 18th April when a large body of intending members were present. The meeting was unanimously in favour of joining the Mornington Competition. The tradesmen and farmers are coming forward to support the club which is evidently to be a very strong one. A ball will be held in the Kooweerup Hall in aid of the club . , ." And so it was launched. Whether Kooweerup actually joined the Mornington Competition is not clear for there is no further mention of the club playing in this association. It appears more likely, that Kooweerup played scratch matches arranged a week or so beforehand with neighbouring towns for 1903 to 1906. Some of the teams played during 1903 were Lang Lang, Korumburra, Loch, Cranbourne, Glen Alvie and Hastings.
