About Us

~ About Us ~

Our Nanango & District Netball Association is a not-for-profit community-based sporting organisation which has been providing girls and boys aged 5 – 17 and men and women aged 18+ with fun, fitness, and a safe and professional environment to foster, develop and promote netball for almost 40 years. Established in 1983, we aim to not only provide an organised and affiliated Netball Queensland Program for children, but provide a safe and well facilitated sporting venue for the local and wider community. Through this we aim to promote personal skill development, team work, sportsmanship, as well as encourage ethics and values to our youth to take forward into adult-hood. We are fortunate enough to feature members from the many different and wonderful small towns/communities around us (Benarkin, Blackbutt, Yarraman, Cooyar, Maidenwell, Kumbia, Coolabunia, Kingaroy, Moffatdale, and everywhere in between). We aim to promote and encourage community service through coaching, umpiring and club management as well as up-skill volunteers through first-aid, coaching, umpiring and grant writing opportunities/workshops.

~ Little Nettys ~

3 - 4 years

Girls & Boys

In 2022, Nanango & District Netball Association were exclusively selected by Netball Queensland

to pilot “Little Nettys” a brand-new Netball program aimed at children aged 3-4 years old.

This ground-breaking, 6 week fundamental motor skills program,  is designed to assist and enhance the developmental needs of each child's physical and social wellbeing, whilst also using equipment, themes, and skills specific to Netball. Children are coached in a supportive environment to help build their confidence and develop a sense of self through encouragement, support and feedback.

Capped at 20 participants, consisting of boys and girls, the Little Nettys pilot program was a HUGE success and we look forward to offering it again in the future.

~ Juniors ~

11 - 13 years

Girls & Boys

In our Junior program, players focus on converting their fundamental movement skills into fundamental Netball skills. These include throwing, catching, jumping, running and basic netball formats that encourage fun, skill development and decision making, whilst learning from accredited, experienced coaches. Through weekly training and games, players are exposed to competition, whilst focusing on fun and players being provided with an environment that allows them to perform to the best of their ability.

Participation in our Junior program has many benefits, such as contributing to health and wellness by providing increased activity levels and reducing stress, and helping to build a positive self-image. It also offers a range of social benefits such as:

  •  developing life skills (for example, communication, concentration, commitment)

  • learning responsibility and discipline

  • learning how to work with others in team environments

  • learning to cope with success and failure

  • developing a sense of community, loyalty and cohesion

  • helping gifted players become aware that they are role models for others

~ Cadets ~

14 - 18 years

Girls & Boys

During our Cadets program, players are ready to consolidate their basic Netball-specific skills and tactics, with a major focus of aerobic fitness development.

Players concentrate on Netball specific skill development, including perceptual skills, reading the game, tactical introduction and decision making. Training helps players develop their physical performance capacity to efficiently and effectively manage a cumulative training and competition load, and provide a base that supports the development of skill acquisition, game sense, and technical, tactical and performance competencies.
