Mental Health Services
About Us
We are a short-term sub-acute residential service (Up to 28 days) with recovery focused mental health support to help you transition out of hospital, or to avoid a hospital admission. People eligible for this service are referred by Queensland Health. Please speak with your case manager or clinician if you would like more information or to arrange a visit.
This residential service is for people from Mackay and surrounding areas who are experiencing severe mental health issues that make being at home difficult. It is for people who need a place with clinical support, but also the time out to work on their recovery and put in some plans for living safely in the community.
Staying at the Mackay Step Up Step Down residential service gives you a safe, supported place to recover. There is a mixture of structured activity and individual 1:1 support time. Family and friends are welcome to visit, and become involved in your recovery planning.
Referral can be made via your Case Manager.
To be eligible to stay you must:
-be currently receiving a service from a Mackay Hospital mental health or alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) service
-be willing to actively participate in planning and working on your recovery
-require intensive support to prevent a mental health relapse or a hospital admission, or
-require intensive support to further recover before returning home after a hospital admission.
