About Us

  1. Set 'In the Canefields', the hall is a historic building,  built by locals in 1917 as a meeting place and dance hall to service the community.  Its walls echo the enjoyment of past and present generations. Currently it operates as a Community Centre, Wedding and Function Venue, and is available for Casual Hire.  Catering, Styling, Co-ordination and equipment hire are available.

The current building includes the original Hall, and the old Norwell School (a building itself over 100 years old) that was added as an extension in the 70/80's, plus a more recent extension which which provides for a storeroom, offices, and our "Munchies'" space. "Munchies" operates predominately for Breakfast and Lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays and caters for locals with sausage Sizzle, Hamburgers, Barista Coffee, and other delight.

Total capacity approx 300 people.  Events with tables and large original Dance floor are comfortable at about 100-120 people. The Hall has an early style performance stage, an inhouse Kitchen plus kitchenette.  Existing old trestle tables, pews, and basic stacking chairs are included in hire. Various Packages, including catering options are available to meet customer's needs.  Costs for Crockery, cutlery, glasses,  round tables, or styling can be included.

Wedding options can include ceremony packages either on the grounds or at selected other local locations.
