About Us

Jugger is a fast-paced, mixed team sport that's simple to learn and challenging to master. Teamwork and coordination takes precedent over individual player skill, allowing players of all types to find their niche in this this exciting sport. From casual play to competitive tournaments, Jugger includes players of all ages, skill, and fitness levels. Our inclusive community welcomes anyone interested to join in and learn basics.

We meet for games and training every Sunday at New Farm Park (by the rose garden, inside the ring road) from 2pm until sunset. New players are welcome and participation is free!

Jugger Basics:

  • The aim of Jugger is to place the Skull (the game ball) into your opponent's goal.
  • The game is played to the beat of a drum. This unique and exciting timekeeping method creates a thumping rhythm that drives play forward!
  • Each team is comprised of five players: One Qwik and four Pompfen players.
  • The Qwik is the only player who can carry the Skull and score points. As a Quick you are unarmed, it's up to you to direct your team and find the gaps to reach your opponent's goal!
  • Pompfen players are armed with a variety of padded spars including staves, swords, shields, and the powerful Chain.
  • As a Pompfen player it's your job to tag opponents, control the field, and defend your Qwik!
  • If a player is tagged they must kneel and count down a number of drumb beats before they can rejoin the game. Each second is critical, so try not to get tagged!
