Mental Health Services
About Us
The Luminos Project is a short-stay (4-night, 5-day) residential service in inner city Perth for young people (16-24) who are willing and able to meaningfully and safely work on their suicidal ideation. The Luminos Project will provide a safe, home-like environment for young people to explore their experience of suicide more deeply. Throughout their stay, young people will be expected to engage in therapeutic activities, which will include daily skill groups (using a DBT framework), semi-structured relaxation activities, as well as formal and informal counselling throughout. All young people are supported with integrated safety plans and discharge plans, with referrals provided to other services as needed.
We are currently open for referrals, and importantly anyone can refer into the service (including the young person themselves). The simplest way to refer is through our pre-intake form: https://thesamaritans.org.au/pre-intake-form/. Alternatively, you can reach us through our enquiry line: 6230 3903. Our intake process starts with a young person filling out a pre-intake form and is conducted via multiple calls over a 1–2-week process (sometimes longer). It can therefore take from one week (to several) for young people to enter the house, and this depends on multiple factors. If we feel we are not the best fit (i.e. their needs are better met by another service), we will always facilitate re-direction to more appropriate supports/ services.

Samaritans WA aim to help build communities in which people have appropriate support to explore how they feel and to build mental wellness. We believe that everyone has the capability to find their inner strength and resilience. We understand that sometimes our capability can feel lost, especially when we feel overwhelmed, isolated, disconnected from others, or helpless. When provided with a safe and caring environment, a listening ear, and the support to explore our feelings, we can uncover our own pathway forward.
