- How can the Hospital Liaison Service assist you?
This service is for people who identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander peoples.
We provide culturally appropriate, non-clinical support to inpatients and their families during their hospital stay at the Mackay Base, Sarina, Proserpine and Bowen Hospitals.

Mobile Breast Screening Service
Our mobile breast screening service visits:
Middlemount, Tieri, Clermont, Moranbah, Dysart, Nebo, Mirani, Seaforth, Calen, Sarina, Proserpine and Cannonvale.
Within Mackay: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service, Community Health Centre, Ooralea, Andergrove, Northern Beaches Bowls Club, Spotlight and at the Mackay Base Hospital.

Sexual Health & Sexual Assault Service
The Mackay Sexual Health & Sexual Assault Service is a free and strictly confidential service that is committed to providing supportive, non-judgmental, quality clinical and counselling services.
Sexual Health Services
Our Services include:
• Screening, testing and treatment for sexually transmissible infections
• HIV rapid testing (results in 20 minutes)
• HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
• HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
• Management of HIV and Hepatitis B and C infections
• Pregnancy testing
• Contraception including emergency contraception
• Pap smears
• Transgender care
• Sexual dysfunction
• Genital skin conditions
• Free condoms and lube
• Training, education and health promotion programs
• Termination of pregnancy information
Consultations and pathology are Medicare bulked-billed with consent.
Sexual Assault Services
Sexual assault services are available to men and women 16 years and over, who have ever experienced sexual assault at any time in their lives.
Our Services include:
• Crisis counselling
• Individual counselling and group programs
• Telephone counselling and support
• Telehealth outreach service for clients in rural and remote locations
• Information and referral
All counseling services are free and confidential.
