About Us

The Disaster Dashboard is Council’s “one-stop” shop with up-to-date information regarding disasters and other information.  To check out any warnings, latest BOM advice, rising river updates, road closures or power outages – go to Council’s Disaster Dashboard - Dashboard https://disaster.burdekin.qld.gov.au/

The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) makes decisions based on information from the Bureau of Meteorology’s weather predictions and advice from Emergency Services. Using this information, the LDMG helps the Community to prevent, prepare, respond and recover from disasters. The Burdekin LDMG is your official source of information. The spokesperson/chairperson of the Burdekin LDMG is the mayor.

While we can’t avoid disasters, there are things that are common to all disasters that enable us to plan for most scenarios. The Burdekin LDMG has developed a Burdekin Local Disaster Management Plan to assist the community, and aims to help our community prevent, prepare, respond and recover from disasters. The Burdekin local Disaster management Plan can be found on Council’s website – Emergency Management – Burdekin Shire Council https://www.burdekin.qld.gov.au/emergency-management
